Guidance Sheila Cribb, Counselor As school counselor, my goals are to help each child better understand himself in relation to his abilities, interests, and goals, and to encourage academic, social and emotional growth. The character words for November-December are Citizenship/Compassion/caring Citizenship means doing your part to make your school, community and the world a better place. Participating in community service and being a good neighbor are also important roles of good citizens. Compassion is caring about how others feel, doing kind and thoughtful deeds for people, and putting other people's needs before your own. Classroom Guidance will be held once a month for 60 minutes for grades 1-5 and twice monthly for 30 minutes for kindergarten, ECCD and self-contained classes. Weekly sessions will be conducted for the Learning Center.
Character Education is the emphasis of the Guidance program. The following topics will be addressed in classes during the 2008-2009 school year.
